Chile's public works ministry (MOP) expects all highway concessionaires to implement the electronic toll collection device known as TAG within the next six months, MOP's concessions director Ricardo Trincado told reporters.
"We are working with concessionaires and expect them to implement the TAG system in the next 4-6 months," said Trincado.

The concessions division at Chile's public works ministry (MOP) presented its 2009-10 project portfolio at a seminar in capital Santiago on Wednesday.
"Between 1991 and 2009, we signed 55 contracts involving more than 140 foreign and local companies," said Leonel Vivallos, head of project development at the concessions division.

Chile's public works ministry (MOP) is aiming to increase the number of concessions while at the same time providing better services, concessions coordinator Ricardo Trincado said at a seminar in capital Santiago.
"We have a new portfolio of projects but at the same time we are improving the current concessions," said Trincado.

Chile's state-owned San Antonio port administrator Empresa Portuaria San Antonio (EPSA) hopes to launch the Costanera-Espigón terminal concession by year-end, the firm's chairman Patricio Arrau told BNamericas.
The concession contemplates handing over sites 4 and 7 of Costanera-Espigón to a single operator for a period of 30 years. The project will require an investment of over US$300mn in infrastructure and equipment.

Chile's public works ministry (MOP) is preparing two new road maintenance concession projects, a MOP official told BNamericas.
On June 23, MOP gave the bidding rules for a US$200mn road maintenance concession package in region IV to seven shortlisted firms. The program is the first of its kind to be carried out in Chile, and aims to guarantee quality standards on the road network over an 18-year period.
