"Construction could have been a lot worse. Overall results were a bit better than expected at the operating level, largely thanks to a surprisingly good performance from airports," an analyst in Spain said.
BAA and Cintra posted nine-month results broadly in line with forecasts on Wednesday and flagged steadying traffic at airports and highways.

Spanish toll road operator Cintra (CCIT.MC), controlled by Ferrovial (FER.MC), said the pace of decline in traffic on its main toll roads had slowed after posting a 3.4 percent fall in nine-month core earnings.
The company said highway traffic remained weak but the decline slowed in the second and third quarters. One bright spot was an increase in users of its Chicago Skyway.

Ferrovial-owned toll road operator Cintra said its shareholders approved its merger with the parent company. Earlier last week, Ferrovial's shareholders approved the operation and, once all the legal requirements are fulfilled, the transaction is expected to be completed towards the beginning of December.

Spain's Cintra (CCIT.MC), controlled by Ferrovial (FER.MC), said on Friday that it had sold its car park subsidiary Cintra Aparcamientos to a consortium for 400 million euros ($557.3 million) plus 51 million euros in bank debt.

Spanish savings bank Caja Madrid (CMD.MC) and construction company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA (FCC.MC) Thursday said they've appointed Juan Bejar as chairman of their highway operation joint-venture Global Via Infraestructuras SA.
Bejar has been chairman of Citigroup Inc.'s (C) Citi Infrastructure fund since June 2007, where he led the purchase of a 42.83% stake in Madrid-based highway construction company Itinere Infraestructuras SA.

Spain's Abertis (ABE.MC) has approved a top management restructuring after its chief executive recently took over the chairman's job, the infrastructure group said in a statement on Tuesday.[nLB295151] Former managing director at Criteria CaixaCorp (CRIT.MC) Francisco Reynes has been appointed managing director for corporate affairs, while that division's former head Josep Martinez Vila has been named managing director for business and operations.

AndratxThe Andratx (Majorca, Spain) city council has awarded Acciona Agua a contract for the construction and exploitation (36 years) of the integrated water cycle services for ten residential developments in the municipality, with a reference population of 5,000 inhabitants. These works, the first of their kind in Spain to be awarded using the Competitive Dialogue procurement procedure, represent an investment of 120 million euros, which includes the total cost of the works in each residential area and the finance portfolio for the works.
