The Supreme Court has directed National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to consider the bids of eight companies, instead of six for allotment of tender for development of Hyderabad-Vijayawada section of the national highway (NH 9) in Andhra Pradesh. A bench comprising Dr Justice Arijit Pasayat and Mr Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly issued the directions for considering the bids made by eight companies for allotment of tender relating to design, engineering, construction, development, finance operation and maintenance of Hyderabad-Vijayawada section of the national highway (NH 9) in Andhra Pradesh. The companies whose bids are now be considered are Maytas Infra Ltd, Hindustan Construction Company, Cintra Concession De, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd, Isolux Corsan Concession, GMR Infrastructure and Madhucon Projects Ltd. GMR Group's Adloor Yellareddy-Gundla Pochanpalli highway project in Andhra Pradesh has commenced commercial operations from March 26th 2009. Nava Bharat Ventures Limited, with a stake of 16 per cent, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (ILFS) and Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited with 5 per cent each are the three other promoters in the consortium. The consortium has so far paid Rs 11 crore to the state at the time of the signing of the concessional agreement in September last year, and has given a bank guarantee of Rs 60 crore.
