The Bangalore-based GMR Group, along with Turkish company Limak and Malaysia Airports Holding Berhard Airports, has built the new airport terminal of the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (ISGA) in Turkey. The consortium had won the contract on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model in July 2007, bagging its rights for 20 years at a cost of more than Rs 3,100 crore.

Contractors had expected the airport operator to issue a tender earlier this year but senior management changes at ADAC delayed the process. ADAC had planned to build the terminal as part of a build operate transfer project and had short listed 3 companies for the contract: France’s Aero ports de Paris Germany’s Hochtief and Turkey’s TAV.

The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) management is set approve by early next week the appointment of a project consultant for
the proposed New Chakan international airport' at Rajgurunagar, off the Pune-Nashik highway.
Six companies have filed their bids for the consultancy work that involves planning, designing, supervision and execution of the airport project. These include independent firms as well as consortia or joint ventures.

The long-awaited break-up of the UK’s biggest airport group began on Wednesday after BAA reached an agreement to sell Gatwick to the owners of London City Airport for £1.5bn.
The sale to Global Infrastructure Partners, which was approved late on Tuesday night by the Competition Commission, ends a tortuous process that started a year ago when BAA, a subsidiary of Spain’s Ferrovial infrastructure group, put Gatwick up for sale in an attempt to head off competition concerns about its market dominance.

Paraguay's public works and communications ministry (MOPC) has designed a US$660mn infrastructure concessions plan, an official from the ministry's planning office told BNamericas.
The plan includes airport concessions that will require an estimated US$170mn investment and navigation initiatives in the rivers Apa, Pilcomayo and Paraguay for a total of US$50mn.

Saudi Arabia plans to award a build-operate-transfer contract to expand an airport in the city of Madinah at a cost of 9 billion riyals ($2.4 billion), a report said.
The new airport terminal is expected to be completed within a maximum of four years, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper quoted Abdullah Rahimi, who heads the country's civil aviation authority GACA, as saying.

Global Infrastructure Partners, the owner of London City airport, made a 1.3 billion-pound ($2 billion) to 1.4 billion-pound bid for Gatwick airport that was rejected by BAA Ltd., said two people familiar with the matter.
The fully financed offer was turned down May 17 on the grounds that it was too low, said the people, who declined to be identified because the details aren’t public. BAA, which also operates London’s Heathrow and Stansted airports, was seeking at least 1.5 billion pounds, one of the people said.
