Australia’s Macquarie Airports Management Ltd. put Bristol International Airport up for sale and has approached a number of potential buyers, the Sunday Times reported, without saying where it got the information. Possible bidders include Prudential’s M&G Group Plc and Fortis, which recently bought Belfast’s George Best airport, according to the newspaper.

FTSE 250 support services and construction group, Carillion (LSE: CLLN) rallied in morning trading after announcing that it been named the preferred bidder for a 30 year, £1.6 billion contract to build and maintain a new 800 bed hospital in Bristol.

A preferred bidder on the long delayed 374m Southmead Hospital PFI scheme could be revealed by the end of the week.
Shortlisted bidders Carillion and Skanska will submit final bids for the last time tomorrow. The North Bristol NHS Trust will then choose a preferred bidder at a board meeting scheduled for Thursday.

NHS South West has announced its approval of plans for the 800 bed hospital to be built on the current Southmead site, subject to Department of Health confirmation. This means North Bristol NHS Trust can proceed to assess the two bids from Carrillion and Skanska before selecting a preferred bidder.

Macquarie Airports (MAP.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Chief Executive Kerrie Mather said on Monday her infrastructure fund would not pursue acquisitions for the foreseeable future, as it focuses on boosting revenue from its existing portfolio, pares debt and buys back its own shares.
