The future hospital of the McGill University Health Centre will definitely be built as a public-private partnership, executive director Arthur Porter insisted Tuesday evening. The provincial government has been seriously considering taking over the MUHC project from the private sector. Defence officials have started the process of qualifying developers to build an 890,000-square-foot building in Gloucester for Canada's national cryptologic agency. Solicitation documents show the building will be slightly smaller than the 22-storey L'Esplanade Laurier office tower. Three groups of companies have been asked by the Alberta government to submit proposals as to how they would build and maintain 10 new elementary and junior high schools. Provincial officials said Thursday that companies involved in the Alberta Public Private Learning Excellence (APPLE) Group, Build II Learn and Plenary Lend Lease (PLL) Education Alberta, have all been asked to come up with detailed proposals by March 2010 as to how they would pursue the projects and how much they would charge the province.
