When Virendra D. Mhaiskar joined his father’s construction company in 1995, it was just making asphalt and building municipal roads. Toll roads were a natural extension of this process.
There was never any doubt in the young Mhaiskar’s mind about what he wanted to do after finishing with his education.

IRB Infrastructure Developers, the Mumbai-based highway builder, may raise up to Rs1,200 crore to fund its projects.
Virendra D Mhaiskar, IRB's chaiman & managing director, said the company's board has passed an enabling resolution to raise Rs1,200 crore. "We have not decided how much we have to raise now or the instruments to be used," he said on a conference call on Tuesday.

IRB Infrastructure Developers has emerged as the lowest bidder for a four-lane highway in Maharashtra on build operate transfer (BOT) basis.
The project is on grant basis with concession period of 22 years and estimated cost of the project is Rs 8 billion.

“The company has emerged as the lowest bidder'' for the highway project in Rajasthan and “has sought a grant of Rs 306 crore from NHAI,'' IRB Infrastructure Developers said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
According to the infra developer, it had submitted its bid with the NHAI for developing road on the Jaipur to Deoli section of NH 12 (National Highway).

IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited has quoted the lowest bid for the four- laning project of NH 4-A from Anmod to Panaji among two bidders who had quoted for the project.
The 67-km stretch of the four-lane will be entrusted to the company for 30 years concession period. "If the company completes the work in five years, they can collect the toll for the next 25 years," a PWD source said.

VD Mhaiskar, CMD, IRB Infrastructure, said work on the Surat-Dahisar project will start from February 20. The company expects to collect Rs 1 crore per day from this particular project. The project, he said is expected to break even in eight years.
