The World Bank today approved four loans worth $4.3 billion (about Rs 20,631 crore) to help India finance its infrastructure programmes and further strengthen the capital base of state-run banks. The approved loan includes a a budgetary support of $2 billion for capital infusion in select public sector banks to help them maintain credit growth.

Defra has awarded £129.1 million in PFI funding to a long term waste management project involving a partnership of three West Midlands councils.
The joint initiative called ‘Project Transform' - which is comprised of Coventry city council, Solihull metropolitan borough council and Warwickshire county council - is set to use the funding to help develop a 305,000 tonne-a-year capacity energy-from-waste (EfW) facility to help serve the region's waste disposal needs.

Grupo Ferrovial SA, the Spanish construction group, plans to refinance about 3.3 billion euros ($4.4 billion) of loans this month, including debt used to buy BAA Airports Ltd., said three people familiar with the deal.
Ferrovial is offering higher interest of 200 to 300 basis points over benchmark rates on the new loans, said the people, who declined to be identified because the talks are private. The margin compares with 65 basis points on a 1.5 billion-euro loan agreed in 2006 to finance the takeover of London-based BAA, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Spanish builder FCC said on Monday it had signed a 400 million euro ($544.3 million) syndicated loan to finance its general business needs.
The three-year loan -- made by Santander, Banco Popular, BBVA, Banca March, Societe Generale savings banks La Caixa and Caja Madrid, and the state-run Official Credit Institute (ICO ( ICOC - news - people )) -- can be increased by 200 million euros.

Spanish infrastructure company Abertis (ABE.MC) is set to sign a loan for up to 540 million euros ($701 million) to finance its acquisition of Itinere's (ITIE.MC) highway concessions, sources close to the deal said.
