The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the implementation of the project of four laning of Rohtak-Bawal section of NH-71 in the State of Haryana under NHDP Phase III on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) Basis. The total project cost is estimated at Rs.650 crore under the DBFO pattern. The concessionaire will make all the expenditure to complete the project and will recover the same by user fee for 28 years including a construction period of 30 months. Join discussion...

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the implementation of the project of four laning of 84 Km long Barasat-Krishnanagar section of NH-34 in the State of West Bengal under the NHDP Phase III on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT ) Basis. Delay in land acquisition has been identified as one of the factors which slow the pace of highways construction in India. As per the Model Concession Agreement of the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) projects, NHAI is required to handover 80% of the land on the date of financial closure of these projects. That precisely means that NHAI will have to acquire the land in a time bound manner so that commencement of work is not delayed. Based on the experience in earlier phases, it was felt that the existing arrangement of acquiring land may not be adequate to meet the challenges of land acquisition works in the States.
