Swedish contractor Skanska has seen turnover slip slightly from £2.6bn to £2.5bn (31.5bn to 30.8bn Swedish Kroner) while profits have slumped from £73M to £36M (878M-433M Kroner) in the first three months of 2009 compared to the same period last year.
The contractor’s forward order book has also slumped by almost a third, from £2.8bn to £2bn (34.3bn to 24.1bn Kroner).

Abertis, the Spanish infrastructure group, on Tuesday unveiled a less-than-expected fall in first-quarter net profit, as acquisitions and steady results at its telecoms business helped offset the impact of reduced traffic on its toll roads and at its airports.
The company, which derives half its revenues from outside the recession-hit domestic economy, said net profit for the three months to the end of March was €122m, 9 per cent less than the €134m reported in the same period last year.
