In a move which will save time and paperwork for road developers, the government is considering a proposal to allow a developer, who is
once recognised as being qualified for the bidding process for a particular project, to bid for other projects as well without going through the qualification process again. As per the proposal, the eligibility will be valid for a one-year period.

The government has revised certain provisions of request for qualification document required in public private partnership projects. The model RFQ now provides that threshold technical capability shall be twice that of the total project cost. As regards eligible projects, the RFQ provides that these should not be less than 20% of the estimated project cost. In case of projects with an estimated project cost of INR 1,000 crore or above, this amount may be suitably reduced but not less than 10% in any case.

Nehru Port Extends Terminal Bidding Deadline.India
India's Port of Jawaharlal Nehru has extended the bidding deadline for its proposed fourth container terminal project from April 30 to June 1.
The move comes after the port authority held a pre-application meeting with prospective bidders on April 15.
After evaluation of initial Requests for Qualifications, the authority is expected to shortlist five pre-qualified applicants for the final stage of bidding subject to security clearances from the central government.

The province will once again look to the private sector to pave the way for the southeast section of Calgary's ring road.
Transportation Minister Luke Ouellette announced today that the province will seek private bids for the 25-km, six lane stretch of roadway that will run from 17 Ave. S.E. to Highway 22X.

Request for qualifications to complete Route 1 issued. Canada
Transportation Minister Denis Landry issued the request for the design, construction and financing of the 27-kilometre stretch between Murray Road (Route 127 near Oak Bay) to St. George (Route 770); the 28-kilometre section from the Letang River to Lepreau; selected upgrades to existing sections of Route 1; and the operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of the entire Route 1. The project, to be completed by 2014 or sooner, and will be implemented as a provincially led public-private partnership.
