The Transurban Group has chosen Leighton Contractors as preferred contractor for the $550m upgrade of the Hills M2 motorway in North West Sydney. Under the agreement, Leighton will deliver environmental planning and design and construction. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved a proposal of the Department of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Shipping, Road, Transport and Highways to upgrade the 264 kms of National Highway IA in the State of Jammu & Kashmir at an estimated cost of Rs.8436 crore under the NHDP Phase II on BOT (Annuity) basis. In case the endeavour on BOT (Annuity) mode turns out to be unsuccessful, the CCEA have authorized the department of Road Transport and Highways to take up the said project on Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC) basis.
