Led by Bouygues, Bombardier and Véolia, the consortium also includes Colas, local architects and financial partners such as AXA and Société Générale. Tram'Tiss was preferred to the rival Run Ram consortium led by Vinci, Alstom and Caisse des Depôts et Consignations.

AN anti-incinerator campaigner has written to Notts County Council to say he feels "disturbed" by the public being blocked from seeing more details of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract.
Veolia Environmental Services Nottinghamshire Ltd sought a High Court injunction which stopped the public being able to visit County Hall to gain more details about its 26-year deal with the council.

Suffolk County Council has narrowed the shortlist down to two for the £612m waste project.
SITA UK and Veolia ES are the two remaining bidder fighting it out for the PFI residual waste treatment contract.
The council announced last week that they had ruled out the other two remaining bidders a Shanks/Wheelabrator Consortium and Waste Recycling Group to develop a 250,000 tonne-a-year capacity near Ipswich.

Staffordshire County Council has shortlisted two waste firms for its 25-year private finance initiative waste contract.
The shortlisted bidders are:
MVV Umwelt
Veolia ES Aurora
The two remaining contractors will now work with the council to refine proposals, after which a preferred bidder is due to be selected in summer 2010. The scheme includes the development of an EfW facility capable of processing 300,000 tonnes per year

The partnership received initial interest from nine bidders, with one failing to pre-qualify and the subsequent withdrawal of two more organizations, the remaining six companies have now submitted their outline bids. The companies are:

• SITA UK - French-owned waste management company
• Shanks Waste Solutions - Milton Keynes-based waste and recycling firm

BY MELBOURNE'S standards, the tram and bus network of the French city of Bordeaux is tiny: 44 trams running on 43 kilometres of track, and 488 buses. But for the company selected by the Bordeaux transport authority to operate this network, the money at stake is big; they will be paid 750 million euros ($A1.4 billion) over four years.

The parent company of Melbourne rail operator Connex has lodged a bid to keep the embattled network running from December 2009. French-based Veolia Transport, along with its partners Bombardier and Singapore-based SMRT, says it has put forward a "compelling" bid to the Victorian Government.
