International Financial Services London (IFSL) is holding an initial meeting for PPP practitioners with an interest in the NAFTA states on 25th February. IFSL is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation with 40 years’ experience of promoting the UK-based financial services industry throughout the world. The PPP North American Advisory Group’s aims are to: Pursue opportunities in the emerging and expanding markets of the NAFTA countries (Canada, Mexico, USA) for a product where the UK has an internationally leading reputation. Support the collective promotion of PPP across the different sectors that best demonstrate the UK's experience, as represented by IFSL’s membership. Make the best promotional use of the maturity of the British PPP market, the experience of practitioners who set it up and the professionalism of those now running it successfully. Work with partners - for example UKTI, FCO, PUK and other relevant institutions - to promote greater knowledge of the NAFTA market for members. Work with partners to assist the North American authorities (national, state/provincial and municipal) in the procurement of PPPs. Work with partners to identify issues and opportunities that will assist with the planning of successful visits by the Lord Mayor to these markets. Work with partners to provide successful platforms and networking opportunities for inward visitors from the NAFTA countries. We will promote PPP models that provide: · Better procurement; · Better strategic planning; · Better building and maintaining of infrastructure; · Better collaboration between the public and private sectors; · Sharing of risks between most appropriate parties; · Public sector reform; and, crucially: · Better services for the taxpayer.
